About
Everyone who knows me knows my love for fragrances. As a teetotaller, my bio goes as far as saying “Fragrance is my Wine”.
Around 2018, as I looked for new avenues of diversification, we reached out to some 50 indie fragrance brands across the world to bring them to India. I believed consumers were ready to explore, and the market was about to explode. Alongside, we planned to bring artisanal attars, a category very close to my heart, to market under The India Company banner. Life, though, had other plans.
Cut to the end of 2025. An assignment with a global platform led me to study the emerging retail landscape and I saw a growing opportunity in the ‘India for the World’ segment . Around the same time, while looking for wedding gifts, we realised there was a clear gap in the niche gifting and wedding favours space. We couldn’t find anything that stood out, and most options felt like forgettable packs that people would simply discard or pass forward.

We decided to combine these two insights and knew it was time to bring back The India Company - a brand that would take highly curated artisanal products to the world. Products that feel good and make people feel good. Products that evoke memories and tell stories the buyer (and user) will enjoy. From India, for the World.
To begin, we decided to launch with just a single category - artisanal attars for the contemporary Indian and a discerning global audience. It’s a modern take - artisanal at its core but with a global sensibility.
It’s taken many months of curation - beautiful fragrances, incredible bottles and fine details such as labels and packaging. We've poured a lot of ourselves into The India Company.
